Hunger Doesn’t Wait. Neither Do We.
Join the One Rupee Thali Project. We are feeding hundreds of families in Saharsa, Bihar, every single day for just ₹1.
A Mission Born from Compassion
Welcome to the Nageshwar Bimla Foundation. We operate with a singular, driving belief: It is unacceptable for anyone to go hungry in our country.
In the bustling streets of Saharsa, amidst the daily grind, many laborers, rickshaw pullers, and elderly citizens struggle to afford a single nutritious meal. We saw this gap and decided to act. We launched the One Rupee Thali Project not as a charity that gives handouts, but as a service that provides food with dignity.
📍 Where We Serve
Our kitchens are strategically located in the heart of Saharsa, Bihar, where the need is greatest. We operate daily at:
- Sonbarsa Raj Sugam Chowk: A hub for daily wage workers and travelers.
- Simri Bakhtiyarpur Station: Serving the transient population and homeless individuals near the railway lines.

Why Charge ₹1? Why Not Free?
This is the question we get asked most often. The answer lies in human psychology.
When food is given for free, it is often viewed as “begging.” By charging a token amount of one rupee, we turn a beneficiary into a customer. They pay for their meal. They sit on a chair. They are served with respect. This small exchange preserves their self-esteem while ensuring they don’t sleep on an empty stomach.
What’s on the Plate? (The Thali)
We do not compromise on quality. A typical meal at the Nageshwar Bimla Foundation kitchen provides a balanced diet essential for physical labor and health:
- 🍚 Rice: High-quality grains for energy.
- 🥘 Dal (Lentils): Essential protein source.
- 🥗 Seasonal Sabzi (Vegetables): Fresh, locally sourced vitamins.
- 🥒 Salad/Pickle: To complete the meal.
The Math of Kindness
While the beneficiary pays ₹1, the actual cost to prepare, cook, and serve a hygienic, nutritious thali is approximately ₹25 to ₹30 (including raw materials, fuel, transport, and logistics).
This gap is where YOU come in.
